Last blogged @ 10:10 PM 2nd week of Internship is over.
It's been a relatively fast week. Hopeful that the remaining 20 weeks will be this fast too. I think this week has been rather fruitful. Helped 10 people to find jobs this week. 10 meaning my friends and their friends. Can't explain how much I love social networking sites at moments like these. 1 tweet / facebook post beats calling 100 people. Other than that, they deprived me of a chance to work with an event. But I guess it's alright, cus it means I don't have to slog and burn my weekends. And the most meaningful thing was getting to go for a charity lunch on Friday with the entire company, together with the DAC school. We brought 12 clients out to the airport and had lunch with them at Macdonalds. Mad tired after the event, spent the last 3 hours in the office stoning, then off to meet Cherlyn, Peimin, Naz, Yuting and Weiliang at Dhoby Ghaut for dinner and rochor tauhuey after that. Spent the entire evening bitching and talking about ITP. Met the boy on Saturday for some pancakes at Seventh Heaven. Then caught The Hunger Games. I had no idea what the entire story was about, apart from hearing it from Tzu Ying and reading the sypnosis and watching the trailer. So a partial reason to watch it was because it was such a big hit and everyone's gonna watch it. So imma catch it before I see everyone tweeting about it, and I still haven't watched it. LOL I sound so idiotic. But whatever. It was awesome. Went tomb sweeping today and it started pouring on the way to there. So we had to pray in the rain after the rain subsided a wee bit. It was... quite an experience. Getting wet and smelly. Don't remember when was the last time my grandma held on to me so tightly, sharing an umbrella. And she still grabs on to my hand so tightly when we cross the road. Still remember how she grabs on to me when I was young, and I would always fall down hahaha dumb ttm. So maybe that's how I'm trained to walk so fast right now lol. Oh well, back to work again tomorrow. Most probably gonna spend the weekends working. Shall update whenever I have the urge to. I feel so lazy to even turn on the computer nowadays.

Last blogged @ 12:36 AM Week 1
Officially over. Relieved.
Wasn't much of a problem adapting to the environment.
Only had problems adapting to the work I'm supposed to do.
Felt like I was in the wrong company, doing the wrong things, given the wrong job scope.
Made me feel really terrible, thinking that I wouldn't be doing anything useful.
But all's fine now. I ended the week on a good note. Was praying so hard for a miracle to happen. Something did work out in the end, and I'm satisfied.
Lesson learnt for this year: Don't expect too much.
Guess I'm really blessed too.
Grateful for good supervisors who wants to help me, grateful for a LO who cares, grateful for the family who asks and shows concern, grateful for the boyfriend who listens to all my rants.
May the remaining 21 weeks be as good as how today was.

Don't know how to describe this. I went to work, full of anticipation. Came back, feeling depressed. Labels: Work

Last blogged @ 11:30 PM Early morning 6.30am, we set off for Malacca. It was a really pretty morning, and we were crunched up in mama's suzuki, speeding on the highway. Poor car, it sounded like it's gonna break apart. And my poor butt, so many butt numbing moments. I'm serious when I say that my butt's numb ok! Was frankly quite bored with the bro reading, the mum driving, the dad sleeping and I was sitting in the car, in a really unglam manner. But that was probably the most comfortable position I could find. I was surprised I didn't fall asleep. Well, I did, but only for a short while. We stopped over at Machap for breakfast and had my fill of not-very-impressive Roti Canai. Then we drove all the way up to Malacca and got lost. Guess the hotel was too new we couldn't find it on GPS and we couldn't see it while driving. So we stopped a couple of times to ask for directions, but still couldn't find it. Ended up parking our car at Jonker to have some Peranakan lunch first. Wasn't awesome, but the pork was awesome. And we saw this really cute old yellow car, which was owned by this really old couple. They looked so cute when they were driving past us!!! Saw some magic tricks by the roadside, felt kinda impressed, bought some magic cards. Weather was starting to turn really really warm and humid at mid-day, so we gave our chendol a miss cus the queue was mad long and the kids couldn't stand the heat anymore.
So this time round, we insisted on trusting the GPS, and safely reached our hotel! Sense of achievement, cus it was really quite hard to locate, but still convenient and within walking distance to Jonker street.
The hotel's new and really pretty and comfy and haaaaaaaaaa clean toilets ^^ Okay, the shower head is really really high tech. I have no idea how to describe it, but omg, I didn't even know how to use it. There's like lots of things to turn and adjust, and there's those massaging things that till now, I don't know how I'm supposed to use them. But one thing was that, I thought it would be a really cool bath cus the shower head looked really powerful and I thought I would just soak myself in pouring water over my head. YET, the water that night was unreasonably cold and I was spending probably half an hour just testing the water and trying to make it warm, to no avail. So I ended up bathing in semi-cold water (sucks ttm) and the water supply probably had some pressure fluctuations problem. I still know my stuff. Anyway, after an afternoon's rest, it was raining and we couldn't go anywhere... We decided to go to the mall to shop. Ended up at Mahkota Parade and we could see that the dads and the kids were really bored, but I still got my share of shopping, so I'm satisfied, obviously since I didn't have to fork out the money too. Parked our cars back at the hotel before spending the rest of the evening at Jonker. Had some awesome assam laksa. The shop was really crowded, and it was only 8+ and they sold out everything. Dad bought the chendol even before we started on our noodles cus he was afraid that it would be gone too. And true enough, they closed the shop shortly after. So we only had melted chendol to eat after that. And it was barely 9pm and we were already the last customers left in the entire shop. So we hit the streets! And had more muah chee, and potatoessssss. Super love this photo. Look at Julian's expression and him and his soya bean milk. This small little uncle. Back at the hotel, we went up to the balcony, had a drink and enjoyed some small talk cus there wasn't anyone else around. Until... other guests came up and the whole area was full of people, so we decided to retreat back into our rooms. Even the fruit punch is so good there are fruit pulps in it! I think the person really took very long to prepare this, cus when other people started coming up, their drink looked different from ours. Like... not that well prepared hahahaha too bad for them. So next morning's breakfast was great. Half was buffet, and the other half was freshly served breakfast that we could choose from a list! And I had to serve the 2 little kids, prepare bread for them, stir their milo, cut their food into pieces, machiam their maid. But what funny talks they make hahahaha. The morning left was climbing up a hill to see St Paul's church, and a view of Malacca... Then we had a river cruise, just like our Singapore River~ And our last meal in Malacca! Restaurants everywhere was full so we just tried this one. Service was rather slow, and weird. But their chicken rice balls was mad awesome!!! Their portions are really small, I had 2 plates all to myself. But it's so good, I feel like having one plate right now. And best of all!!! DURIAN CHENDOL!!! HEAVEN. Tastes better than the normal chendol the others ordered I bet. Oh, have I mentioned? I bought myself durian chocolates too!!! Gonna treat myself a piece a week to chase away my Monday blues once I start ITP. But it's only gonna last me 9 weeks cus there's only a miserable 9 pieces, and it's freaking expensive wth scam my money. But whatever, durian woohoo. Yeap, and that's basically all for the Malacca trip. Really short, but ended my remaining holidays well, and I promised myself to start ITP without complaining. And we're back to Singapore after visiting the "beach" of Malacca. LOL we were driving on the waters, it was just so funny, the GPS couldn't navigate ourselves back onto land. And that's all for this trip!

Last blogged @ 11:45 PM Good news first!!!
I passed my FTT!!! YAY! Finally! So... I have yet to start my practical lessons. And my PDL is expiring in 2 days, which pretty much explains that I'm very unmotivated to do my lessons. I would very much love to get my license, but meh, lessons. Well, hang on. I'm still in search for my motivation to make me go for lessons willingly. Anyway, the highlight of the day is that... I FINALLY BOUGHT MY NEW LAPTOP! I had some grueling self-internal conflict since yesterday cus I couldn't decide what brand I should get. I limited my choices down to Asus and Fujitsu. I know my current Fujitsu has been giving me a lot of problems. The audio drive is screwed since forever, or it makes weird static noises at times when it feels like behaving normally. Other times, my entire laptop just hangs and meh, I have to restart the entire thing. So by right, why should I still trust a Fujitsu? But... I decided that I still liked my Fujitsu. I know this is dumb, but I like my keyboard a million times over and over again. As for Asus, it's not bad. But... when I had the thought of buying another Fujitsu, I guess my mind was already made up. So I know all my tweet rants were just... dumb. So... as you all would have already expected, I still decided to trust Fujitsu one more time and... Here's my new baby! Fujitsu in black!!! I can't believe I actually spent 2 hours in Suntec, just to decide whether I should get Asus or Fujitsu. Or rather, convince myself why I shouldn't get Asus, or why I still want a Fujitsu. I think I spent about an hour lingering around Fujitsu's booth, ranting to people about my dying white Fujitsu and demand reasons why I should still purchase their products, and it's priced $500 more expensive than Asus even though their specs are quite the same. I pity that guy now LOL. So I think he was quite nice to give me a discount of slightly more than a hundred bucks! But I didn't agree to buy yet. I suppose the lady boss got so annoyed cus I was standing around, but not buying her things. Fine, but I still bought it after she agreed to throw in an 8GB thumbdrive for free. PLUS... This entire box of freebies!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Why I this IT noob also can get so many good stuff! I'm impressed with myself. I think the guy didn't want to give me these stuff after I made him give me discounts and throw in one thumbdrive. But I very buay paiseh, and went ahead to ask him for it, so the boss had no choice but to give me this. I love the box!!! And all my freebiessssssssssss. There's more below all these!!! So anyway, I really hope my new Fujitsu will not disappoint me! - Going off for a 2 days Malacca Trip tomorrow! Good way to end my last 2 days of holidays before I start my long 6 months internship. Trying to keep positive because I really need cash. And very much looking forward to my 2 months holidays after that!!! Labels: Shopping

Eventful day!
Haven't done so much in a long while, I feel like I'm living!
The day started off with going to the driving centre with the boy for our FTT etrial, to IT fair at Suntec to hunt for my potential new laptop.
And last stop of the day is to picnic with Cherlyn, Peimin, YuTing, WaiYi and Wei Liang at Botanic Gardens!
The variety of foods that were baked, cooked, prepared by the rest. This is with the exclusion of my bought sushi hahaha I can't make sushi.
And this small little girl was the cutest! She was holding a really huge dried leaf and came running to us, all smiles. We offered her a cupcake, she took it, licked the frosting, and returned it to us. Before running off, she said, "My mama might scold me!" Cute max! It's so hard to find friendly kids nowadays!
K, besides that point... We witnessed a new version of 那些年! HAHAHAHAHA
Funny people! I don't understand how they talk sitting in one straight row. Its like they're acting out some movie. They probably can feel us (me) gossiping about them, so this guy kept turning back. So after all these funny incidents, we just talked about... stuff. For hours. It drizzled but it wasn't that heavy so we didn't have to seek shelter. So we just munched on junk food and laughed and made a lot of noise, till I ended up really bloated. Played with a really cute dog, seen how a groom couldn't carry his rather emo looking bride. Really enjoyed the afternoon like that. Don't need to do much. Just good weather, good company and something to eat. I don't think there's going to be any chance in the near future for us to get together like that. Not at least until Internship is over. I sense being deprived of good outings and good company for the next 6 months.

PAUL's finally open!!!
've been wanting to try it ever since I knew it was going to be open in Singapore, or at least at Taka. This is their first Singapore outlet, if I'm not wrong? The last and only time I tried it was in Dubai and I thought, man I should try this and see how much it differs from my experience I had there.
So I went down with the boyfriend to try some french goodness. Quite surprised to see the crowd, didn't expect so many people would be there. And even their bread from their bakery smells damn good!!! PAUL's apparently a bakery, but they serve breakfast and other main courses too.
Their menu is rather different from the one I saw in Dubai, with regards to their food selection.
I kept asking the boy to try their coffee because I remembered my boss one's to be really good and it was pretty like that:
But it turned out to be served in a glass cup. Without cookies. MEH. Disappointing. Don't have a photo, cus it looked so insignificant. But I think it wasn't that bad afterall.
We also ordered a carrot soup. I liked it! Mmmm some good carroty taste!
And some salmon.... sandwich? For him...
And cod fillet for me!
Food was rather pricey, but we finished all the food so I guess it was still worthwhile! Good experience though! Guess I'll only be going back there if I have spare cash to spend!

Last blogged @ 11:30 PM Technically, this is the last weekend I have before I start my internship, since I'll be going away to Malacca the coming weekend.
TIME FLIES.
Getting mixed feelings about starting internship next week. Actually only because I haven't done my work as according to what they told me to do. Oops... but I'm really lazy and at a lost as to what I'm actually supposed to do. Urgh. Gonna settle it after I finish this post. Guilt is creeping up on me.
So anyway, after not meeting the boyfriend for a really long time... Finally got to go out with him! ^^
I think we just spent most of our time sitting around and talking, or go to Toys R Us to see stupid (and not pretty) barbie dolls and weird car models. And guess what, they actually sell diapers for those dolls. Whattttt? I'd rather save the money to buy pads for myself. I've quite decided that I'm not buying barbie dolls for my kid. She can have soft toys instead. They're so cuddly and cute and everything nice, as compared to scary looking barbie dolls with leh cheh blonde hair. You have to change them and feed them and tie their hair, y u so mafan? And those dolls cry and shit and giggle like a witch. Scary.
K anyway... I finally satisfied my craving for tom yum soup. It was sour... indeed. But I think the boyfriend finished most of it. And had my share of green curry ^^ I don't know how the stupid waitress took our orders and I ended up with 2 servings of rice. And she kept staring at me, y u no let me eat in peace. Maybe she's secretly laughing at me. So I ended up being the glutton, with 2 portions of rice. I didn't finish all! So I'm not as gluttony as you think!
Caught This Means War and like how everyone raved about it, it was good and incredibly funny!
K gotta do some work now, and pray that I pass my ftt this coming Friday. I wonder when will be the day I can finally get my license lol.

Last blogged @ 12:19 AM HAPPY LEAP DAY!
Does anyone really celebrate this day? No doubt it happens once every 4 years, but err is there any significance in celebrating it? Whatever it is, the day has been equally eventful. I think it's become a norm that once after exams, my mum doesn't see me around the house for a couple of days. It's time to regain freedom!!! Met up for Teoheng with Vivian, then later Gwee and Diana! Been so long since we last sang k. The last was exactly 2 months back in Genting. I think the best part of singing K is not just singing current mainstream songs, but rather, oldies. Like songs from 10 years ago and beyond. And the most awesome thing is when everyone knows the song, you don't feel that old afterall. Had dinner after at Hong Kong Cafe and we ordered a table full of dishes and dim sum machiam reunion dinner as according to what Gwee claimed to be. Only the roast duck was good. Others were... meh. But we stayed for a good 2 hours just talking. Then we continued our conversation over tea and hot chocolate at Kuche Bar and Bistro just opposite the road. Life's good when you can just have all the time in the world to catch up on things. I know I still have a paper on Friday, but... So, in some sense or another, I celebrated leap day right? I think one of the luxuries in the world you can have now is just to talk over nothing. So... I will study tomorrow... ;) |
