Last blogged @ 3:37 AM By right, I'm back in Singapore already. In my last post, I said that I'll try to blog every night. But ending work at 10pm, reaching the hotel at 11pm, and having dinner only at 12am has rendered me exhausted to blog anything coherent. So I have all my drafts on my dashboard, and I'll just recount bits and pieces left from my memory. So here goes part of Day 1 and Day 2. Here's my hotel room in Holiday Inn Sharjah. It's quite big actually. Other than the usual beds... And boss probably took half an hour to find this North Indian restaurant cos she raved about the food based on her last experience here. Well, they have cute table mats! The next day was heading to Expo for setting up our booth!!! Took us a couple of hours to arrange our showcases and we chiong-ed out of expo cos we had an exiting itinerary ahead!!! . . . . . YAY DESERT SAFARI!!! Boss paid for us to go on this trip! So I had a play cum work moment in the Middle East! It's her first time going too, though she's being coming here for the past 5 years :O So we went to the sand dune in a 4 wheel drive!!! And we shared the car with this 3 other Indian men and our driver was apparently quite annoyed with them. Well basically I thought the driver could also be a little more adventurous and make our ride like a roller coaster cos he was controlling the brakes a little too much. So when the guys saw how other cars went on a thrilling route, they would tell the driver "YOU TRY THAT ONE", and they would end up getting scolded LOL. Ah and the scenery at the desert is really breathtaking, there's no end to it! And the sand's so fine. Different from ECP okay! Even the colour also so pretty. Totally wore the wrong shoes to the desert. Not like I have a choice. And you can see my socks too :P Self praise is no praise. Thought we would stopover to see the sunset, but the driver didn't stop, so we had to take pictures from the car. Still pretty nonetheless. And then he drove us to have dinner. IN THE DESERT. Cool. And have camel rides!!! Ahhh I've never seen camels! I had difficulty climbing up the camel. I don't do gymnastics and I'm highly inflexible. And this is where we have our dinner! Al Fresco dining ^^ And we thought this was dinner. Thought it was pathetic to pay so much to eat... pickles, popiah and kebab. But I had a complimentary henna done. I liked it! But I guessed I wash my hands too many times it disappeared even before I came back to Singapore :( Sad case. Then they announced dinner. By that time, I wasn't hungry anymore. Or rather, I wasn't hungry at all. I never even finished whatever they gave us before this. But the kebab was good om nom nom. Tried a little of the others, and threw the rest away. Oops. Then the rest of the evening was belly dancing. Only time you see a middle eastern woman so skimpily dressed and go around seducing men. K, only for entertainment sake. Thought it was the end of the night after the driver dropped off the 3 Indian men at the hotel and was supposed to send us back to ours too. But he offered to bring us to see the night lights of Dubai. I have never been to Dubai, so I was quite hyped up about it. But I felt kinda bad after I saw how tired Boss was :/ But anyway, the driver drove us to see the Burj Al Arab at Jumeira! From the gate it looks short, fat and flat! Way different from what I thought it would be. I always thought it was slim, tall and pretty. Oh and we couldn't get pass the gates cos we had to pay an entrance fee of USD50 just to see see look look -.- Wow and I just checked that a night there costs SGD2,500. Any sponsors? Then the driver drove us to another pretty hotel nearby and my, it was like a fairytale! There were horses lined up the side of the roads. Nope, no horse carriages, just dirty and smelly us. Felt like we intruded the hotel, looking all dirty and underdressed, but I just had to take a photo with the chandeliers ^^ Boss brought me to a place where I could capture shots of the Burj Al Arab in another angle! Then we had a ride down to the Marina Walk. It's like USS and Clarke Quay combined. Where all the angmohs would probably hang out. We were all a tad too tired to get down and walk, so we had a long drive down the stretch of the Marina. The weather was too warm too, not very funny to be walking out there. I just googled and apparently it's the tallest building in the world. Ooooohhhh... They have a whole list of current records you can go wiki and check it out. I have no idea how many levels there are... but I reckon about 200? They have the world's highest restuarant at the 122nd level and it's just at mid height of the entire structure. Say whattttt? Heard that the food there is good. Anyone with spare cash? ^^ Oh and they have corporate suites some 100 floors above. Omg how sweet would it be to be looking down from that level. I'm amazed now. HAHAHAHA. I have some other photos, and I'll show them in the next blog post! Oh, and that was really the end of the night! Back to the hotel and to gear up for the start of event the next day!!! Will blog more about my work soon!!! |
